The Internal Regulations of the U. S. Frigate Potomac, under the command of J. H. Aulick, includes the original articles for the governing of the frigate, which were written in 1818. Also included are statements to enforce the internal regulations while the frigate was at sea in 1846. The following regulations are included: Bill of Gun Exercises; Fighting Both Sides; Getting Underway; Mooring and UnMooring; Tracking and Veering; Reefing and Hoisting; Loosing and Furling; Coming to Anchor; Watch Bill; Quarter Bill; and Fire Bill. Loose documents provide drawings of signal flags used by the frigate. Samuel Lockwood was 1st Lieutenant and Executive Officer. The document is illustrated throughout; each illustration is signed by H. Edwards.
